On April 1st, 2023, the research project "HAawAI - Human-centered Execution Analysis of Manual Movement Patterns using Motion Capturing and Artificial Intelligence" started. The project focuses on simplified and (partially) automated ergonomic and time studies of manual work processes.

In collaboration with the research partner MTM ASSOCIATION e.V., the Institute for Research and Transfer RIF e.V. began working on the new research project "HAawAI" on April 1st. The research project is a response to the increasing need for time and ergonomic studies in manufacturing companies. Due to the growing globalization of markets and increasing competition, these companies rely on optimizing available resources. At the same time, the topic of ergonomics is becoming more prominent due to demographic change and increased health awareness in the population.

The research project provides companies with a means to respond to these challenges with faster and simplified analysis. Manual work processes will be recorded using motion capturing systems and analyzed using machine learning methods. The integration of a standardized interface from MTM enables the generation of rule compliant analysis, such as in the new process language Human Work Design (MTM-HWD), in which the ergonomic analysis is focused alongside a time-economic evaluation.

The research project is funded over a period of 24 months by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) through the Industrial Collective Research (IGF) program based on a decision of the German Bundestag.
