Second PA in the UniDoku research project: Content management systems, legal compliance and best practice

At the end of March, the second project steering committee meeting for the UniDoku project took place at the NIRO Hafenraum. Once again, members of the steering committee and other interested representatives from industry came together. The aim of the meeting was to examine current challenges and potential solutions in technical documentation from various perspectives.
A key point at the start was the presentation of the maturity model developed for technical documentation, which is now available as a web application and enables companies to carry out a structured assessment of their current position and to identify further development measures.
Another key focus was on content management systems. During the discussion, it became clear that increasing regulatory requirements, growing product complexity and the parallel use of various output channels are placing new demands on the structure, consistency and efficiency of documentation. Against this backdrop, the use of artificial intelligence as a supporting tool was also examined and discussed in terms of specific application potential.
In the field of translation management, the importance of integrated system landscapes was highlighted. In particular, the coordination of different tools and consistent terminology were identified as key success factors for efficient, high-quality processes.
The programme was rounded off by a discussion on the current legal framework. In addition to fundamental requirements under product and technology law, the focus was particularly on the new EU Machinery Regulation and the Digital Product Passport, which will contribute to increased transparency throughout the entire product lifecycle in the future.
The presentations were complemented by open discussion sessions, which facilitated an intensive exchange between participants from academia and industry. The different perspectives provided valuable insights for further project work. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all participants for their active involvement and the open and constructive exchange.
