Last Wednesday, September 10, 2025, the first meeting of the Project Advisory Committee (PA) for the IGF UniDoku project took place. Numerous industry representatives took advantage of the opportunity to discuss the topic and actively contribute at the IPS premises.

The aim of the project is to develop a uniform, extensible schema for technical documentation that can be used throughout the entire product life cycle and particularly supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in mechanical and plant engineering.

The meeting marked the official launch of the IPS research team and its partners. The Project Advisory Committee (PA), comprised of representatives from industry and associations, plays a key role in the project: It oversees the scientific work, provides input from practitioners, and ensures that the results are developed in line with the needs of the companies.

The project's objectives, work packages, and schedule were presented during the first meeting. The challenges of current documentation processes were discussed in particular depth: fragmented systems, heterogeneous standards, and the increasing complexity in the context of Industry 4.0. The PA members contributed their specific experiences and needs, highlighting the relevance of a universal and interoperable solution.

The initial meeting laid the foundation for constructive collaboration. The discussions demonstrated that the project team and the PA members share a common vision: to make technical documentation future-proof and establish it as an integral component of digitalization in mechanical and plant engineering.

We thank our project partners for the successful project launch and look forward to further cooperation and the common path.
