The recent meeting of ISO Working Group 13 took place in Seoul, where representatives from Germany, Japan, and Korea discussed the progress of the ISO 16400 series and defined the next steps for the international standards framework.

During the meeting in Seoul of ISO Working Group 13, representatives from RIF GmbH, TU Dortmund, the Korean research institute ETRI, and Prof. Fumihiko Kimura, Dr. Eng., Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo, convened to review the current status of the ISO 16400 series and to coordinate the next steps.

Another item on the agenda was the brief introduction of initial considerations on “Physical AI” by the Korean delegation. While the topic attracted general interest, it became clear that further clarification is needed regarding application fields, its relation to the EBC structure, and its industrial relevance.

The German delegation proposed harmonizing the EBC with the Asset Administration Shell (AAS). The idea was well received, and further elaboration and discussion are planned for the next meeting in Sydney.
