BeverGreen presents exhibit at the Platform for Learning Systems 2025

At the Plattform Conference 2025 on September 30 in Berlin, RIF e.V. showcased its exhibit from the research project “BeverGreen – Green Digital Twin for Sustainable Brewing”. The Fachkonferenz of the Platform for Learning Systems took place under the guiding theme “AI & Us. Shaping the Future Responsibly” and explored how Germany and Europe can maintain technological sovereignty while upholding ethical and value-based principles in the age of artificial intelligence.
As part of the accompanying exhibition, various projects demonstrated practical applications of AI and digitalization. Among them, BeverGreen attracted attention as a pioneering approach that links sustainability, digital twin architectures, and AI-based process optimization within the brewing industry.
The exhibit focused on the Meta Information Knowledge Graph, which serves as the foundation of the Green Digital Twin. This semantic knowledge structure enables cross-domain data integration and supports optimization processes within brewing operations. The project also presented the Digital Product Passport for beer, which visualizes environmental and process data across all stages of production and serves as an example of transparent, climate-conscious manufacturing.
A further highlight was the taste impression interface, where sensory feedback is used to train a machine learning algorithm for flavor evaluation. This integration of human perception and AI analytics illustrates how digital twins can evolve into knowledge-driven systems capable of balancing product quality, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
The exhibition emphasized the importance of combining knowledge representation, intelligent control, and sustainability metrics—core principles of the BeverGreen initiative and central to the vision of future-oriented, responsible AI in production.
