The Factory-X lighthouse project funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) was launched on February 1, 2024. Together with its cooperation partner RIF Engineering & Consulting GmbH, IPS is actively involved in the use cases "Circular Economy" and "Carbon Footprint Management".

The content and focus of this project is on independent and federated data spaces for product and production data in the context of Industry 4.0.

The kick-off for the use case "Circular Economy" took place at DMG Mori in Pfronten. Using a demonstration machine and workshops, the goals and approach of the Use Case were discussed and defined.

The goal of the Factory-X Use Case is to enable component manufacturers, machine builders and factory operators to connect their products and production in a fair and equal way, as automated as possible and at low cost, using data-driven solutions to achieve a common circular economy. The specific focus is on the "three Rs" of refurbishment, remanufacturing and recycling. To support this vision, three innovative digital business applications (apps) are being developed specifically for use in Factory-X.

A particular focus of RIF is on the implementation of the applications to demonstrate the technologies in its microbrewery.
